Self-publishing

A traditional publishing house is any company that buys and sells IP (intellectual property).
Intellectual property covers both written and visual information.
As a self-publisher, the individual is selling their IP (intellectual property) independent of a publishing house.
A person becomes a publisher.
This also means that, as an individual, the self-publisher will have to organise and foot the bill for some or all of the below.
● Editing
● Illustrations
● Book design
● Legal/research
● Copyright and fact-checking
● Printing
● Shipping
● Marketing
● Publicity
● Distribution
● Stock management
Self-publishing means that the self-publisher gets to do it all themselves. This freedom can be wonderful and scary at the same time.
